FORT SMITH, Ark. – Sept. 23, 2009 – Rheem breaks new ground with the introduction of a Prestige Series™ 27 to 31 EER Geothermal Heat Pump with Comfort Control² System™ serial communicating feature. Offering the ultimate in energy savings and flexibility, Rheem geothermal units supply heating, central air conditioning and domestic hot water while costing less to operate than any other heating and cooling system.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, geothermal systems are “the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean and cost effective space conditioning systems available today.” Further recognizing the efficiency of geothermal energy, the Stimulus Plan enables homeowners to receive a Federal tax credit of up to 30 percent of the total installed cost of a geothermal heat pump with ratings of 14.1 EER and 3.3 COP’s.
“Consumers are looking for ways to save energy and lower utility costs; the Rheem geothermal heat pump makes this a reality through advanced technology that delivers enhanced comfort and peace of mind to homeowners,” says Adam Schuster, manager, Rheem product marketing and development. “With the addition of the geothermal heat pump, Rheem now offers Contractors an unparalleled choice of ultra-efficient, earth friendly whole-home comfort solutions.”
The Rheem Geothermal Heat Pump is offered in package and split system configurations. Package products are available in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 ton capacities; split systems are available in 2, 3, 4, and 5 ton capacities. Ensuring optimum comfort, Rheem Geothermal Heat Pumps feature two-stage compressors and advanced variable speed air delivery that automatically adjusts to changing weather conditions.
A geothermal unit typically supplies four to five kilowatts of heat for every kilowatt of electricity used. Three to four of these kilowatts of heat come directly from the earth itself, and are clean, free and sustainable. A geothermal heat pump works similarly to other heat pumps by transferring heat from an interior space to the earth in the cooling mode and from the earth to an interior space in the heating mode. Super high levels of efficiency are possible because a geothermal heat pump only uses electricity to move heat, not produce it. Circulating water is used as the heat transfer medium through a closed loop piping system buried in the ground, thus having little or no environmental impact on ground water quality or supplies.
Rheem Geothermal Heat Pumps are available with an optional water heating generator, which diverts a portion of the supplied heat to the domestic water heater. This feature is capable of producing a substantial portion of a home’s hot water needs at a very low cost.
Rheem Geothermal Heat Pump systems come equipped with the following features:
The Rheem Prestige Series Geothermal Heat Pump equipped with Comfort Control² System is protected by a 10-year limited warranty. Please contact your local Rheem Representative or visit Rheem.com for additional information.
