NASCAR XFINITY Series - Virgina529 College Savings 250
September 11, 2015 - Richmond International Raceway - Richmond, VA
Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Ruud team earned a ninth-place finish after battling handling issues throughout the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Richmond International Raceway on Friday night. Dillon started the 250-lap main event from the eighth position and remained a fixture in the top 10 through the course of the race. Shortly after taking the green flag, the Richard Childress Racing driver reported to crew chief Danny Stockman he was too tight. Dillon was called to the attention of the Ruud pit crew for service on lap 42 as the field was slowed for a competition caution. Receiving four fresh Goodyear tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment, Dillon rejoined the racing action in the seventh position. The 25-year-old driver continued to battle handling issues for the most of the remaining laps. The Stockman-led team utilized three additional pit stops to bolt on new tires, add fuel and make chassis adjustments to alleviate Dillon's issues. With 50 laps to go, Dillon reported his handling issues had subsided and was able to move into the eighth spot before crossing the finish line ninth, earning the No. 33 teams 18th top-10 finish of the season.
We worked the whole race to get the handling figured out on this Ruud Chevrolet. Danny (Stockman, crew chief) and the boys kept fighting all race long, but we couldn't put it all together. - Austin Dillon
