NASCAR Nationwide Series - Zippo 200 At Watkins Glen International
August 9th, 2014 - Watkins Glen International

After being slated to start the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International in the 17th position, James Buescher had to drop to the rear of the 39-car field before the green flag for unapproved adjustments after the qualifying session. Buescher started his charge through the field when he quickly cleared a handful of cars on the first couple of laps of the 82-lap race. The race was slowed when the first full-course yellow was displayed on lap 11. During this caution period crew chief Matt Lucas called his driver down pit road for tires and fuel. With multiple pit strategies through the field, green-flag pit stops started once again around the quarter mark of the race. Buescher continued to work his way to the front of the field, when on lap 25 he inherited the lead. It was the very next lap that the yellow flag was once again displayed. The Texan came down pit road once again to work on the tight handling Toyota Care Camry. Restarting deep in the field in the 22nd position, Buescher once again started his march forward. Running outside the top-15, the 24-year-old came down pit road for the final stop of the day on lap 52. The Toyota Care crew went to work to loosen up the No. 99 Toyota Camry on the right-hand turns. With 20-laps remain, Buescher found himself up to the 14th position. After many cars in front of Buescher found themselves running into trouble, Buescher continued to drive a smooth and clean race and kept his No. 99 Toyota Care Camry on track. With under 10-laps remain running just outside the top-10 in 11th, Buescher held off challenges from behind him to bring his RAB Racing No. 99 Toyota Care Camry home in the 11th-place.

It was a fun race today. Our Toyota Care/Rheem Camry was pretty solid all day. We lacked some speed all weekend but I think we overcame that with strategy and pure drive. I'm proud of my RAB Racing guys and Matt Lucas for that strategy call today. I wouldn't consider myself a road course expert by any means but to come out of Watkins Glen with one of our more solid runs. This was a big boost for our RAB Racing team, and we can use this to build off of heading into Mid-Ohio next week. - James Buescher
