NASCAR Nationwide Series - Virginia529 College Savings 250
September 5th, 2014 - Richmond International Raceway
James Buescher and the No. 99 Ruud team came into Richmond International Raceway with high hopes after placing inside the top-10 during the first event at the 3/4-mile D-shaped oval earlier this season. The 24-year-old Plano, Tx. native started mid-pack in the 40-car field for Friday night's Virginia 529 College Savings 250. After taking multiple swings at correcting an extremely loose in and tight center handling Ruud Camry, Buescher and the RAB Racing team continued to battle to stay within contention of staying on the lead lap much of the race. Towards the latter part of 250-lap race, Buescher found himself running top-10 lap times during the final long green-flag run which allowed Buescher to stay in contention of not falling further back in the field. After taking a gamble by not coming down pit road for fresh tires, Buescher and the crew took the wave around to put the team only one lap down to the leader. On the ensuing restart the Ruud racing team was hoping to get into the lucky dog position and receive a quick yellow flag, however the luck didn't fall the RAB Racings way Friday night as Buescher fought hard to bring home the Ruud Toyota Camry in the 19th position.
We really struggled with the handling on our Ruud Camry tonight. At the end of the practice sessions on Thursday we had it running pretty decent but come race time we were just too loose in and tight through the center and that really hurt our Ruud Camry tonight. On new tires we just lacked some speed and we couldn't move forward but the later the run wore on our car was running top-10 lap times unfortunately at that point we were racing pretty hard to staying close to the lucky dog position. We'll put this race behind us and move onto Chicago and look to secure another top-10 finish for everyone at Rheem and Toyota. - James Buescher
