NASCAR Nationwide Series - Buckle Up 200
May 31st, 2014 - Dover International Speedway
After a disappointing qualifying result, James Buescher and the No. 99 Rheem team started from the 21st position in the Buckle Up 200 at Dover International Speedway. Early in the 200-lap event, Buescher reported that he was loose on the landing of the corners and tight on the exit. It was shortly past the halfway point when Buescher fell a lap down to the leader. After working his way up to the 13th position, the 24-year-old received contact from a competitor while racing for the lucky dog position. In the midst of the contact, the Texan cut down a left-front tire forcing the Rheem team to make multiple pit stops to repair the damage. For the remaining quarter of the race, Buescher fought a tight-handling race car. Buescher and the No. 99 Rheem team came home in 15th place, one lap down.
We sort of struggled through the practice sessions this weekend, but our Rheem team made some gains on the handling of the Rheem Camry after the first pit stop of the race. We were making our way forward when we received some contact that hurt the handling of our Rheem Camry. It was another unfortunate break for my Rheem team, which didn't allow us the finish that I felt we deserved. We'll regroup during the off week before Michigan and get ready for the long stretch of races through the summer. - James Buescher
