NASCAR Truck Series - Lucas Oil 200
May 30th, 2014 - Dover International Speedway
Coming into Dover International Speedway on Friday afternoon, Ron Hornaday Jr. wanted to continue his hot start to the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season. Hornaday and his Rheem Comfort Systems team did just that, finishing 11th for Turner Scott Motorsports at Dover International Speedway on Friday afternoon. Taking the green flag in the eighth position after race forced the field to be set by the rule book, the four-time NCWTS champion survived three early cautions and settled into the top 15. Hornaday was scored in the 16th position when the field made their first pit stop on lap 76. Reporting that his truck was "free all around," crew chief Doug George called for four tires, fuel and an air-pressure adjustment to help tighten up the Rheem Comfort Products Silverado. With the changes working, Hornaday worked his way up to the 12th position when the fourth caution came out on lap 133. With Hornaday asking to be tightened up just a little bit more, the Rheem Comfort Systems team made another round of adjustments during the pit stop. Hornaday continued to run top-10 lap times and survived two more cautions towards the end of the race, ultimately coming home in the 11th position.
Today wasn't the day we were looking for, but my Rheem Comfort Products team never gave up and made some good changes during the race. We were just fighting a loose truck all day and could never really make up any ground. The guys at Turner Scott Motorsports continue to build me great trucks with a lot of speed. The good thing about this sport is you get to race almost every weekend and I am looking forward to getting back on the track next week in Texas. - Ron Hornaday Jr.
