NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Pure Michigan 400
August 16, 2015 - Michigan International Speedway - Brooklyn, MI
Crew chief Justin Alexander and the No. 27 team have prepped chassis No. 510 for this weekend's 400-mile event at Michigan International Speedway. This Chevrolet SS is race proven making two appearances already in 2015; once at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Start: 23 / Finish: 14) and Kentucky Speedway (Start: 14 / Finish: 15).
In 18 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the two-mile track, Menard has four top-five and six top-10 finishes as well as two top-five and six top-10 starts. He's completed 98.7 percent of laps in competition, including 15 laps led. Menard also has 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts which include one win (June 2013), four top-five and eight top-10 finishes. He has four top-five and five top-10 starts with one pole award.
Alexander has impressive stats in his first year as a full-time Sprint Cup Series crew chief. In 27 races with Menard, Alexander has led the team to one top-five, 13 top-15 and 18 top-20 starts. He's also collected 20 top-20, 17 top-15 and three top-five finishes. Alexander is the first three-time winner of the MOOG Problem Solver of the Race award this season.
Menard sits 11th in the Sprint Cup Series driver point standings and currently holds the 13th position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Grid with only four races left before the Chase begins in September.
Menard started the June event at MIS from the 17th spot and methodically raced his way into the top 10 before rain shortened the 400-mile race. The No. 27 team was scored in eighth, earning their fourth top-10 finish of the season.
Why is Michigan International Speedway suited to your driving style?
I like to roll the car through the center, not really point and shoot. With the wide corners and grippy surface, Michigan is a perfect track for that. I'm ready to get back there this weekend and take another shot at it for a good finish. - Paul Menard
The Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway will be televised live Sunday, August 16 beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio
