Join us in celebrating Energy Efficiency Day. This time of year, governments, organizations, manufacturers and utilities come together to promote energy savings and carbon emission reduction. To fully engage in this initiative, start by understanding what makes an appliance energy efficient. This knowledge will help you understand how energy efficiency benefits homes and businesses to make a positive impact on our environment!
Demystifying Uniform Energy Factor (UEF)
Let’s start by understanding water heater efficiency ratings.
Introducing the Rheem® Maximus™ Super High Efficiency Gas Water Heater – the smart and sustainable choice for a high-efficiency water heater. Discover why it takes your water heating experience to the max!
1. Not Running Out of Hot Water
Maximus heats water up to two times faster than a standard gas water heater. No one wants to wait for hot water to be ready…or get stuck with a cold shower.
When savings are top of mind, there is a new option for you to look into now. The brand-new Rheem® ProTerra™ Hybrid Electric Water Heater saves you money as soon as it’s installed with a tax credit, local utility rebates and energy cost savings.
As a homeowner, you may have noticed yellow EnergyGuide labels on your water heater and appliances. What does the information on the label mean and why is it there?
Why the EnergyGuide Label Is Important
In order to help consumers comparison shop products, the Federal Trade Commission requires manufacturers to place EnergyGuide labels on appliances. The label estimates a residential appliance’s yearly energy cost and how it compares to similar models.
Rheem® products displaying the blue ENERGY STAR® logo have passed certification for strict energy efficiency testing. ENERGY STAR certification and energy efficiency mean energy cost savings for homeowners. That’s more money in your pocket compared to standard efficiency water heating products.
We’ve collected information about energy savings, sustainability and highly efficient water heaters to celebrate ENERGY STAR Day this year. You’ll learn their perspective on how to save today, save tomorrow and save for good.
Energy supply is limited to what utilities generate during peak hours. Your water heater is the second single biggest user of electricity in your home, making up 13.6% of residential energy usage by appliance. It’s second only to space heating and cooling, which uses the most energy at 42%. Both are major opportunities to change residential energy usage.
Changing energy usage is especially urgent in California, where energy grids are becoming more vulnerable to climate-related disasters like heat waves,
With Energy Efficiency Day now here, we wanted to reflect on what it means to us to be energy efficient. Energy Efficiency Day falls on the first Wednesday of October every year. It aims to spread awareness about the benefits of energy efficiency, from lower costs to healthier homes and environmental conservation. Here at Rheem®, we’re passionate about making sure you have the resources to meet your hot water needs and reduce your energy use and cost.
Across the country, local utilities and incentive programs offer rebates and credits for switching to Heat Pump Water Heaters (HPWHs). The goal is for homeowners to adopt high efficiency HPWHs to reduce energy demand, lower carbon emissions and help utility companies provide a reliable energy supply.
Why Are There Rebates and Incentives for Heat Pump Water Heaters?
Many states and cities have set aggressive carbon emission reduction targets. For example, California’s target is to reach net zero or carbon neutrality by 2045.

Communities around the country have begun the transition to a clean energy future. More and more of the electricity we use is being generated from clean, renewable sources instead of fossil fuels, which pollute the air and contribute to climate change. This Earth Day, you and your family can be part of this transition by using energy wisely. Make your energy choices count,
